2nd Step into the Mind of a Magician

Apparently Oklahoma City never gets the memo that it snows here twice a year. Each time it does its like people have been flashed over the past year by that thing Will Smith carries in Men In Black. Its an anomaly as to why our roads cannot be cleaned because we don’t have the equipment yet every year we go through the same thing. It makes no sense, kind of like why you get those tongue zit type things or enlarged taste buds. If the taste bud is larger shouldn’t things taste that much better or worse, and why can you not pop them like a zit and why do they not scab up or flake off like the rest of the imperfections on my body. The only answer for this is that I swallowed them or they are still in my tongue. Needless to say Logan is buying us water, wine and all the other reparations for the incoming storm.

This brings me to the state of sports in American society. I do not think that people especially women should be able to participate in Super Bowl festivities if they have not watched a single football game all year. The Super Bowl is a reward and culmination of a fan watching games all year which signals an end to one season and starts the anticipation for the next. The people who freeload just the last game are kind of like a shitty dentist. They kind of cute but really she is only cute in a dentist assistant sort of way has to have her hands in your moth peeling plaque away, gagging you with those x-ray plates and then watching you spit as if your some sort of camel are the real football fans. Then dentist who comes in at the end pokes on a few teeth with that pick gets all the reward after really putting in no real effort. Borderline, make’s me sick. It’s also really hard to try to impress the 5/10 in the real-world but 9/10 for a dentist girl whilst you’re gagging on said x-ray plate and she is snapping Polaroid’s of your gums. Packers 31-24 over the Steelers.

This brings me to my last point of the blog, wrestling. Not that fake Greco roman, two men giving each other ring worms, while only parents watch, fake wrestling; I am talking about Vince McMahon, grown men trying to win a championship to reach the pinnacle of their profession wrestling. So what, watching it a my only vice, a guilty pleasure if you will that probably stems from a lack of solid core values brought on by too much Foxnews as a child. Wrestling can be compared to many shows that garner some of the largest rating on television so it astounds me that more people do not tune in every Monday to watch such beauty. Dancing the Stars is like wrestling in that it’s two men in a choreographed ‘dance’ except they have steel chairs and hot pants. Jersey Shore is like wrestling in that the raw emotion and the realness of the characters really resonates with the audience, and the whole fake tans man love thing. So I leave you with one thought, the world would be a better place is Israel and Palestine could win or lose the Gaza strip at WrestleMania in a loser leaves our land Steel Cage Match.

Take a little more curiosity out daily.

I will be taking over the blog posts from now on

So finally I have decided to resurrect this blog from obscurity and write it with a zest and hunger that only the namesake Curtis’ can bestow to it.  I know what you all are thinking right now, why do I care what this jackass has to say and even more, I have probably hung out with him and to a lesser extent her and they are pretty boring people except when he gets drunk and inappropriate and you have to laugh at him or else you will be so embarrassed he will be hard to look at.  It’s like that one time I reenacting my good friend Garin’s birth for his mother at a recent graduation party.

So I guess the main purpose of a blog is to muse about what has been going on in our lives and occasionally add a funny quip here or there to make it not seem like the truth.  Truth be told the truthful blog about the Curtis’ would be Monday night sat on the couch drank wine watched tv.  Tuesday-Friday repeat.  Saturday went out until the wee hours of 10:45 with the Wente’s currently our only friends in town came home drank wine on the couch and watched TV until we fell asleep.  If I have learned one thing in my 27 years of life its that to make a story good you just lie or tell it from an odd point of view to make it interesting.  So not only will I lie my ass off, not only to amuse myself but to transport myself into the fantasy life I have always envisioned.  Speaking of fantasy life is it not weird that most things can be looked at as needing to be bigger or smaller to make things better or worse.  Every night I look at my house, the TV, my bank account and Logan and do just that.  For couch sleeping sake I will not answer them here but needless to say; Joey just look down and you will know what I am talking about.

Writing this blog will surely offend a lot of people I know but I try to do that on a consistent basis anyway so I thought on my first entry I would apologize in general to everyone I have met, will talk about, will infer to, or will offend.  Sorry.  Since most of my opening entry has rambled about making entries I will share a small item in my head this week, am I being filmed like I am in the Truman Show.

It’s a question that can never be answered because if I asked anyone, they would be an actor and couldn’t tell me yet I always think Logan must make good money since she has a starring roll.  Was dating other girls like auditions to see who would get the lead.  I would also want to meet the casting director because he casted some odd people.  I did write an entire paragraph about a lady I work with, one of my friends and their casting but deleted it to save face.  So In conclusion think about how long the credits will be at the end of my movie listed in order of appearance.  Semen 1 played by himself Semen 2 played by himself.

After reading this you  no longer have to be Curious.

down time

Right now I have a few seconds of down time before the day gets off to a busy whirlwind like normal! We are signing our lease papers for the house tomorrow and we get the keys next week! We are about to be super busy for the next nine days doing the following:
1. Finishing packing up all of our stuff..I swear we continue to fill boxes and see little to no progress.
2. Eating the contents of our fridge so we don't have to move a ton of food.
3. Finding a Christmas ornament for the annual Thanksgiving girls exchange. (sounds simple but it's a cut throat challenge for the BEST)
4. Actually getting it together and moving.
5. Heading to Dallas for Cassie's Final Fling before the ring.
6. Getting a gift prior to heading to Dallas for Cassie.
7. Working..that little 8 hour detail every day.
8. I'm sure I'm forgetting something..oh ya we are hosting the last tailgate of the year and everyone we know will be here I think! Hope nobody minds our apartment sans decor!
Whew..I'm tired just typing it! I'm super excited though because my inlaws are coming to help with the big move and will be spending Thanksgiving with my family in Wewoka! It is going to be so great having everyone together in one place, I can't describe how grateful I am to have two amazing families that get along and enjoy each others company! That's all for now..ta ta and Happy Thanksgiving!

Finally Back!

Ok ok I know I say this every time, but this time we are really back..at least for a quick update.

As most of you know 2010 has been a crazy, fun, turbulent, stressfull, CRAZY, exciting, did I mention CRAZY? year. Troy & I have both been without jobs and have both gotten new ones hooray! I think things are finally settling down for the Curtis Family. I am working for DeVry University as a High School Programs Rep and I LOVE it! I know that everything happens for a reason & I could not be more grateful for the path that has led me to this position. I have amazing co-workers, a SUPER AMAZING boss, a partner in crime in Tulsa that I can't imagine my weeks without and I feel good about myself at the end of the day. What more could I ask for in a career?? I plan to start my master's work in January and I'm actually looking forward to going back to school which is something I never thought I would say! Troy has started a new job with an internet start up company that has SO much potential. He is really enjoying taking a super active role in getting the company up and running. He is working on sales, marketing & day to day office responsibilties and I think he is really enjoying it so far! Stay tuned for updates on him but I believe he'll be starting grad school with me in January!

In other news....We are moving back to Norman! We found an awesome rent house that is brand new that we are going to live in for awhile. It is so cute, really close to our little munchkin Macey & perfect for both of our new jobs. While we are very sad to be parting ways with our amazing roomie, we are really glad to live alone! It will be our first place as a married couple and we couldn't be happier about it!

Short & sweet but it looks like the Curtis family is getting back on it's feet and we'll have more fun & exciting news to post soon!

Cheers!

George & Reba

This past weekend we headed East to Tulsa to see two of our all time favorites..George Strait & Reba! We went with the Brownback's who are quickly becoming some of our very favorite people in the world to hang out with!

We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to make it a little mini get away and it was so much fun! Bridget won $200 in about 30 seconds on a slot machine and as you can imagine that was the most successful story we had from the casino..ha!

We ate dinner and watched the OU Basketball game from Toby Keith's inside the hotel, then we hopped in a cab for the BOK center! The concert was fantastic! It was long and both George and Reba played a good mix of new songs and classic favorites..when Reba pulled up in a taxi wearing a sequin red dress singing fancy..well let's just say I was thrilled! ha!

After the show, the boys went back down to the casino and Bridget and I headed up to the room where I suffered from a severe case of narcalepsy and fell right to sleep!
The next day, we met Julie, Matt & Cash for some lunch at Cheddar's! It was great to see my long lost best friend and catch up on all that is going on with the Rose's!
All in all it was a great weekend, the perfect distance for a quick get away, a change of secenery that doesn't wear you out!

Keep checking in for updates!

Inspired by Dooce

Thanks to Amanda Wente..I've been slowly working my way through the archives of Dooce.Com. Dooce is a professional blogger and I'm loving her..she in fact has inspired me to resume the blogging. Let's see quick recap of whats been going on lately..

SNOW! Oklahoman's thought that Farmer's Alamanac was crazy..but alas it has been a crazy winter! I've lived here my whole life and have not ever seen a winter like this..but those of you who read this (all two of you) know that.

I think this is going to be a blog post about all of the positive things in our world..(from my perspective of course..Troy never writes)

I'm going to start with Career..
I think I am just about one of the luckiest people ever! I have a job that I LOVE! I get to spend my days with great co-workers..I've inherited four big-brother types, a fantastic boss and Connie who makes the best coffee around and knows how to put the boys in their places! To make it even better, I get to spend my days in my office..inside the football stadium...those of you who know me know this is my DisneyLand..my happiest place on earth..I love it here! I have met some amazing people since starting this adventure, co-workers all over the country that are so much fun..this sports marketing world is such a unique and special community and I feel extremely blessed to be a part of it.

Next..Friends..
Lizzy Anderson - "How to describe a Best Friend" Lizzy is one of the single most selfless people I have ever met in my life. She has the biggest heart and has never ever said the word "no" I have to scold her all the time for not ever doing anything for herself..case in point I bought her a massage gift certificate for her birthday...almost a year ago, she hasn't even used it. I don't know what my life would be without her. She fills my world with sunshine. I've never met anyone in my life with such a passion for helping people. Helping children in particular. She is one of the single most amazing people ever and I am thankful every single day that I have someone like her in my world.

Kari Bryan - MOH, Best Friend. She has been my friend forever..I can barely remember fighting with her ever..although I'm sure there were some. She is so grounded, she never judges, she is always a shoulder to cry on, a buddy to gossip with, a comfort when I am lost. She keeps me sane, she keeps me grounded she makes me a better person just by knowing her. As the years go on I know she will always be in my life, helping me raise my children, talking sports with my husband so I don't have to and just being family.

Kelli Driggers - Kelli recently has had a little bit of a rough patch..the one who shall remain nameless...broke up with her..my reaction.."WTF! is he crazy? Does he not know how beautiful, special, fun, funny, amazing..etc you are?" My hope for her is to find a prince charming that will sweep her off her feet and NEVER make her doubt her worth not one second of her life. At the same time..I hope that she realizes that she is worth it..all by herself just because she is Amazing, wonderful, thoughtful, caring...beautiful. Inside and out best friend.

Bridget Brownback - Oh Bridge, If there was one great thing that came out of my OPUBCO sentence..it was you my love. I feel like I have known you my whole life..I think it was fate that we became friends! You are so great! One of those people I can say anything to and I know you will not only forgive my crazy but you will understand completly and have words of wisdom to get me through it! You are so amazing and I am so grateful I have you in my circle!

The Wente Family - I once described us (us as in the four of us) as a "couple" I'm so happy we are still together..You guys make our lives so much more fun! Who else will stay up until all hours and play Mario with us? Who else will come over 5 nights a week just to watch TV and hang out? Without you two OKC would be a dreary place..you put the color in our lives and I have to say I love you for it!

To all the others who were not mentioned by name...You know you each hold special places in my heart and my life and I am eternally grateful for your friendships...

Today was one of those days where nothing really went my way...I feel better taking note of some of the most wonderful things in my life to keep me moving forward!

Tonight, Troy & I are taking Miss Macey to another fun filled OU Basketball game..its so great to watch her light up when she sees Boomer & Sooner running around, or when the crowd cheers!

I vow to blog a least twice/month for the remainder of 2010...well that's the goal anyway! Thanks for listening and have a delightful day!
